It is possible to go from Cajamarca to Chachapoyas (or to Leymebamba or anywhere in between) in one day, without spending a night in Celendin.
There are busses from Celendin to Chachapoyas every Thursday and Sunday at 11:00. There are 2 companies that do this ride - Trans Virgen del Carmen and Trans Araujo, both leave in the same days at the same time. There is a bus from Cajamarca to Celendin at 7:00 with Trans Atahualpa, it arrives in Celendin at 11:00 just in time for the bus to Chachapoyas. To make sure that the second bus doesn`t leave before you arrive with the first bus, and to make sure you have place on the second bus, you can phone the company office in Celendin:
